Liebfrauenkirche Trier

church free

The Liebfrauenkirche in Trier is one of the earliest Gothic churches in Germany. Its unusual floor plan in the shape of a twelve-petaled rose gives it a special architectural effect. Visitors can discover the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture here. The church has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 (together with the Roman monuments and Trier Cathedral), as it is an important example of early Gothic architecture.
