Kirchturm Suurhusen

architecture History church quirky

The leaning tower of Suurhusen is considered to be one of the most steeply inclined church towers in the world and is located 7 km north of Emden. The tower of the medieval brick church leans significantly more than the famous Tower of Pisa. The reason for this was the drying out of the boggy ground on which the foundations were built. Today, the leaning tower is an extraordinary sight and a popular photo motif in East Frisia.
