Führerbau

Nazi history

The Führerbau on Königsplatz was originally a representative administrative building of the National Socialist regime and served as a place of representation for Adolf Hitler. Today it belongs to the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and is a memorial for the confrontation with the Nazi era. The Munich Agreement (the cession of the Sudetenland, a region of what was then Czechoslovakia with a predominantly German-speaking population, to Nazi Germany) was signed in the building in 1938, making it a place steeped in history.
